Perched on the foothills of Bugey, the Château des Allymes watches over the town. Model of medieval military architecture, first Dauphinois, then Savoyard. Towers, dungeon and curtain walls have survived the centuries and invite you to discover the place.

The castle of Allymes consists of two parts, the upper courtyard formed by the four curtain walls connecting the square tower (donjon) to the round tower (watchtower) and the lower courtyard of which there remains the large fortification wall and a small tower lookout, ruined. Classified as a historical monument in 1960, the Château des Allymes was saved from ruin and opened to the public since 1966.

Hosted by the association of Friends of the Château des Allymes and René de Lucinge, it now hosts within its walls a permanent exhibition devoted to its history and temporary exhibitions, such as the Lego® and Playmobil® exhibition to be found every year. . Concerts, conferences and storytelling or evening visits are offered from time to time.
The castle has been owned by the City of Ambérieu since 1984.
