Museum of Bugist Traditions

Museum

In Bugey, the museum's collections tell the daily life of the inhabitants, on the banks of the Albarine from 1850 to 1950. Film, soundscapes, life stories recreate the atmosphere of the mountain villages and industrial towns of this valley.

The crunch of the pen on the paper evokes the school of yesteryear. The typical smell of the ramekin, a local cheese specialty, prepared by the farmer's wife, wafts through the kitchen.

The Schappe room, the name of the spinning mills in the valley, relates the history of textiles: hemp, silk, artificial and synthetic fibres.

Fine toiletries and beautiful finery await coquettish and elegant at Le Bon Marché, the replica of a boutique of yesteryear.

And why not end your visit with a tasting of local products?
