Subsequently, Meximieux changed masters. She was Dauphiné, then Savoyard and definitively French in 1601. During the Revolution, the castle was dismantled. The keep, the walls and the towers collapsed.
In the 19th century, from the foundations of the keep and part of the north facade, the castle was rebuilt with an ice house and an orangery.
The formal gardens of the 18th century gave way to terraced gardens, to rare species with ponds and rock gardens.
After two fires, the exterior of the castle is definitely in ruins. In June 2013, the city of Meximieux acquired the building, the park and the gardens in order to create a relaxation area... An orientation table enhances the view of the city and the large wooded park is the playground ideal for the family.
