Small village with the colors of beautiful stones. Along the narrow streets, let yourself be charmed by its bourgeois, peasant and winegrowers' residences, its proud medieval keep and its church, witness to 2000 years of history. Ideal for breathing the calm of Bugey.
Formerly Lhuis hosted the Haut Rhône tramway several times a day linking Brégnier-Cordon to Sault-Brénaz. Even today, the small station built in 1910 remains.
Throughout the village, the small heritage parades: old communal ovens (the town still has 10), washhouses, fountains... A decor that gives Lhuis its authentic atmosphere.
The mill stream sings its sweet melody as it crosses the town. Below the village it gives a magical aspect to the undergrowth between calm and serenity.
The hamlet of Millieu is worth a look for its belvedere overlooking the "Lac de Millieu". This beautiful marshy pond, surrounded by reeds, is a sensitive natural area.
