From Perouges to Bugey
The shortest of the "Route du Bugey" circuits will take you through the small villages on the banks of the Rhône and over the hills of Bugey, departing from Ambérieu-en-Bugey, a town at the crossroads of the Plaine de l' Ain, Dombes and Bugey.
The essentials of this circuit:
The charming medieval village of Saint-Sorlin-en-Bugey: a town with a winegrowing past that has preserved medieval architecture. Very pretty facades and a beautiful view from the church.
The wine-growing village of Vaux-en-Bugey: the vines still in use in this charming Bugiste village offer a very beautiful view of the bell tower of the atypical church. A discovery to be made along the Buizin stream which crosses the town.
In Serrières de Briord, the Point Vert leisure center offers the opportunity for a swim in the Rhône or water sports.
Going up through the Monts du Bugey, you will pass by the pretty hamlet of Souclin and its viewpoints over the Rhône.
Before returning to Ambérieu, if you feel like it, a detour will take you to meet the Château des Allymes. The railway museum in Ambérieu conceals treasures on the railway world.
