From Perouges to Bugey
The Vareilles memory trail offers a discovery of the past of this pretty historic district, during a family walk. Along the Gardon and the path, explanatory panels trace the former industrial activity to Lac Bleu.
From 1344, the force of water was used by mills.
From the 400th century, many textile and cotton factories were set up downstream from the lake's water reservoir. Up to XNUMX people from the neighborhood worked around the tulle and the synthetic which found their place in these factories. Then the arrival of electricity and automation forced the factories to gradually close. It is this important past for the development of the hamlet that it is proposed to discover along the way.
Formerly called "Le Grand Foulon" or "l'Écluse", the water reservoir of the Gardon is now called Lac Bleu and is the arrival point of the walk.
All you have to do is turn around on the same path or continue along the path to the ruins of the Château de St Germain. (marked path from the blue lake, 1 hour to return to the entrance of rue de Vareilles)
