A family outing: wooden games for children

Impossible to get lost, just take a good look at the wooden signs engraved with an adorable squirrel. Let's go for a beautiful moment under the cool shade of the trees.

Children can frolic from one sign to another to learn more about the trees around them. Even better, at regular intervals, they can play with the charming fun stations made of reclaimed wood. Guess who owns this fruit? The acorn, easy is the oak. The walnut, fastoche, the walnut! But this funny fruit with propellers there… Hey, and what leaf shape does the locust have? Harder still, will you recognize the trees just by their trunk veins? Enough to take yourself for a forest squirrel!

At the end of botanical trail, young and old will be unbeatable on the habitat of squirrels. A perfect ride to occupy the holidays or a Sunday afternoon with the whole troop. So made for everyone that you can enjoy it with the dog, the bikes or even with the spouse if he/she is wise.

Little stories of Leyment wood

Along the way, local stories and legends make the walk even more charming.
Like this strange affair of the burnt oak or the quarrel of the fountain of Sévrieux.

Le old oak tree on the way had a strange fate. Victim of the embers of the shepherds' campfires, its heart burned without ever destroying its branches. The hollow left in its bark, the size of a child, now only lets squirrels through. A brave tree!

About the fontaine, if it no longer gives water today, it was the subject of many disputes. The shepherds of Leyment used to make their animals drink there. But a notable of the city declaring himself owner sold the use of it to the city of Lagnieu. It took 93 years to see the property deed revoked, in favor of the city of Ste-Julie!

Also to discover the washerwomen's path and a small detour is possible until the last beech wood of Leyment.
