When the sun is beating down a bit and the kids start to melt faster than vanilla ice cream, there's a simple solution: dive into the water!

Fortunately, during a heatwave, there are plenty of ways to cool off while having fun. Follow this guide to discover everything the Plaine de l'Ain has to offer in terms of water activities. From windsurfing to rafting, including canyoning in the Bugey!

Canyoning in beautiful rivers

Rock, water, natural slides and a bit of courage: that's the recipe for canyoning!
This is the perfect activity for those who love to combine adventure and fresh air. Put on your wetsuit and explore the wild gorges!

Sailing and catamaran to glide downwind

Want to play the sailor or hoist the sails high?
Sailing and catamaran sailing are the perfect combination of excitement and relaxation. Whether you're a pro at the helm or a complete beginner, the wind will carry you!

Canoeing: paddle in hand, smile on your face

Navigating the Ain by canoe or kayak is the ultimate peaceful adventure.
No crazy rapids, but pretty meanders, clear water, and nature all around. The perfect place for an outing with family or friends!

Rafting & hydrospeed: rapids, water, fun

If your summer needs a good adrenaline rush, this is the place to be.
Rafting is about going down rapids in a group. Hydrospeed is about riding solo on a board! Thrills and splashes are guaranteed.

Paddleboarding and pedal boating for a zen aquatic attitude

Calm water, sun on your skin and a paddleboard under your feet: what more could you ask for?
For the more playful, the pedal boat remains a safe bet. Whether for sunbathing, chatting, or letting off steam, it's the perfect duo for summer.

Swimming areas: the simple pleasure of jumping into the water

Don't feel like exercising? No problem. Sometimes, happiness is just a towel, a swimsuit, and a nice swim.

Good to know

  • The river of Ain is a wild and preserved site. Only a few bathing points are tolerated. Please respect them.
  • The Rhône : only at the Point Vert leisure site.
  • Developed sites : various places welcome supervised bathing throughout the Ain.

A little tip to help you shine in society: no swimming in the Dombes ponds, reserved for carp farming!

La Ain river is sensitive and complex. In addition to regular water releases, several areas are protected for the respect for biodiversity. The websites are undeveloped, unsupervised. They are only subject to tolerance. Please respect these places.

The bathing sites (excluding the Ain river) indicated on the map are watched ou arranged. The tourist office thanks you for respect the places and take away your waste for a great summer together.

Looking for other activities?

If you're more of a fish in water than a cow, the Ain plain has plenty of other activities.
