This pretty family interpretive trail offers the discovery of a built heritage linked to the exploitation of choin, the local stone, as well as a walk in the heart of a natural environment whose biodiversity is to be preserved. A calm and instructive walk!
Explanatory stations have been placed along the path linking the different places constituting the trail of sensitive natural areas.

We start with the site of the old quarries where is valued what made the reputation of the town: its limestone, formerly called "choin". It was exploited until the middle of the 20th century.

The millstone quarry is the only quarry in the region to present all the extraction techniques (manual and mechanical) as well as the elements related to the exploitation (forge, powder cabin and marinière).

The path then allows you to discover the old forge, the slabs of the Octave plateau and the Orange quarry (just before the hamlet of Bouis).
These last two sites present traces of tanks which attest to the transport of the stone to the Rhône.

Along the way we learn to know better the life of the quarry workers, their work and the specificities of a generous and intelligent nature.
In the great calm of nature bugiste we contemplate centuries of history and mineral and green landscapes, despite everything.

Free activities are organized by the Conservatory of Rhônes-Alpes natural areas throughout the year.

A beautiful bug village, in stone, of course. Villebois and its quarries have shone around the world for the quality of its freestone. Former seigniory with three fortified houses, its residences bear witness to a past strongly linked to the Rhône.
From the Place du Monolith, a heritage route invites you in the footsteps of the quarrymen and the history of the village. Beautiful explanatory terminals will help you unlock the secrets of its key places: monolith, church, town hall, washhouse, hamlet and fortified house of Bouis, Octave plateau and millstone quarries.

The Villebois quarries are classified as a Sensitive Natural Area. A pleasant walk crosses the old workings of La Meule, an abandoned forge, natural areas for resting or observing wild flora (soap beds, lichens, etc.) and wildlife. The Octave plateau still bears the traces of the tanks transporting the stone from Villebois to the Rhône.

On the heights of Bugey, the shaded terrace with panoramic views awaits you for a well-deserved ice cream break. Otherwise for dinner, the chef's specialty, which won her the Gault & Millau: chicken with morel mushrooms. A nice secret corner!
Far from the world and the crowds, the Auberge de Soudon is a small, confidential address. Perfect for hikers looking for a coffee before the walk, or during a themed evening to enjoy their stay with friends or family around traditional dishes in a Savoyard chalet atmosphere.

The pool table is there to entertain you, in addition to the superb panoramic view from the terrace. In winter, the fireplace warms you up and is used to grill the beef ribs! And the tradition continues with the recipe for calf's head, Bernadette sauce, inherited from the previous hostess.

Companies and individuals will also find a pleasant setting for private or professional events.

Welcome to "A stone's throw from Rhéby", in a charming Bugiste village with beautiful stone houses. Thierry and Audrey welcome you to their 14th century residence, renovated and furnished for your pleasure and comfort.
You will be welcomed in the five comfortable, modern and spacious bedrooms on the two floors of the house. Each room is equipped with a mini-fridge and private bathrooms. The very beautiful kitchen shared by the 5 bedrooms will be the place for your breakfasts, made up of homemade and local products, unless you prefer the shaded terrace in summer. You can relax in the swimming pool treated with a UV sterilizer (guaranteed without product), heated from spring to autumn, or in one of the sun loungers by the pool.

Roaming cyclists will find all the comforts and equipment of the Accueil vélo label in this residence.

The residence is ideally located on the edge of the Via Rhôna for your cycling escapades, as well as close to family walks, hiking or mountain biking for the more sporty (cyclist friends, a secure room with electrical outlets is at your disposal) . For water lovers, many water activities are offered at the Espace Eaux Vives, or at the Point Vert and Vallée Bleue leisure centers, just a few kilometers away.

Located near the Plaine de l'Ain business park, the house is convenient for all your business trips.
