The Dombes is often described as a vast clay plateau, dug with a thousand ponds, which extends the Bresse lands to the south as far as the gates of Lyon, dominates the Saône Valley to the west and the Plaine de l'Ain to the 'is.
But those who really know it know that the Dombes is elsewhere...
At the borders of air and water, between earth and sky of which it is the mirror. Beyond the silence, the Dombes resonates, since the dawn of time, with lapping, singing, rustling, intermittent cries... of its population of birds, fish, aquatic plants. The Tourist Route invites you to discover it. During a gastronomic break, discover the good restaurants of the Route and taste the products of the ponds: carp rillettes, smoked carp, carp fillet with sorrel, carp fillet with red butter and other cervelas of carp sauce with sorrel! Surprising flavors that have earned the Route de la Dombes the title of Site Remarquable du Goût.
The road was created in 1987.
