This stone basin from 1873 has a beater on its four sides. The frame is entirely mortised and rests on ten wooden pillars, each placed on a stone dice.
Built in 1873, it is fed by various springs from the hill above the vineyard path.
Behind this washhouse, you can see the fountain terminal with its small oval-shaped trough where a spring flows. The latter supplied the inhabitants with fresh water in the summer, until the 50s. During the summer of 2001 and 2002, the International Association CONCORDIA, bringing together young people from different countries, completely restored the paving.
Formerly, the locality was called "Gnieux". It was said that a cat often went there; hence the name Chavagneux.
