Pérouges, the medieval festival

Le second weekend of June, the village of Pérouges reconnects with its history, in the time of the knights.

On the lists, under the medieval city

Camp des signeilles, at the foot of the city or camp soldier on the farm. Everywhere, it's the same excitement. Dozens of tents, men and women in costumes, even busy children. Each has their role: lighting the fire for the forge, cutting the food for the meal, running the shop... They are nobles, peasants, ribalds, merchants, talmeniers** or innkeepers. They are ready to do demonstration of their know-how and to share! Listen to the story of these enthusiasts of the Middle Ages, discuss with them and put aside preconceived ideas. Then it's the turn of combats ! The men-at-arms enter the scene and fight with swords. How hot they must be under their armor! However, they do not spare themselves and strike their opponents. In the evening, the field is ablaze with the fire show so impressive.

The parade: jubilation on the cobblestones

Sunday, the show The long-awaited begins: it opens with the most beautiful outfits of the noble people parading.

musicians liven up the parade to the sound of hurdy-gurdies, flutes and other instruments. Some let themselves be carried away by the music and do some dancing.

We also hear the heavy footsteps of armed men and knights pounding the cobblestones. Then the beggars and other misfits arrive! Watch out for your bags!
