This belfry is an exception! Usually, these non-religious watchtowers enliven the landscapes of the North. Built in 1818, it was both a grain exchange, a hall for the town hall and a guardhouse. Since 2000 a carillon has been ringing the hours of the day.
For the transition to the year 2000, the municipality wanted to bring the old carillon back to life. From eight bells in 2000, it rose to seventeen in 2005 and twenty in 2012.
To learn more about this astonishing belfry, you will have to take the guided tour for small groups.
