From the town hall of St-Denis-en-Bugey. Pass in front of an old mill then head for the Tour de Saint-Denis: medieval tower which offers a nice view with an orientation table. Also starting point for many hikes and fitness trails.

Crossing Ambutrix, a picturesque hillside village before arriving at Vaux-en-Bugey. Commune with a winegrower's past, today still dotted with exploited vineyards. The vines offer a beautiful view of the original church tower. From the chapel of the cemetery, another panorama is offered to the gaze.

Vaux-Fevroux or "feverish valley" owes its name to its remote position in the valley and to the fevers that decimated the village in the distant past. Continue for 2km through the woods to the remains of a natural gas well in a meadow.

Since 1906, natural gas has been found in the valley and its exploitation was a world first from 1919. In 1925, Saint Gobain built a factory in Lagnieu to take advantage of this energy. The factory still exists and produces glass for the whole world.

Going down the path there is possible access to the Buizin vats and its waterfalls.
