Trick question ! They have all were filmed in Pérouges. Looking like a film set, Pérouges attracts many filmmakers from all over the world. And even very surprising ones! The love story between Pérouges and cinema began early, almost at the dawn of the 7th art. From 1924 the city sees the story of 'Mandrel', the local smuggler. But there is a chance that the oldest film shoot in Pérouges dates 1921 !

THREE TIMES THREE MUSKETEERS

A silent film, the first of three versions Film 'The 3 Musketeers' tours in Pérouges during the 20th century. In 1932,, followed by a speaking version in black and white, then finally in 1961. , in colour ! With this time two feature films made within the medieval city: 'The Queen's Studs' & 'Milady's Revenge'.

In 2013 the main actors of the film returned to visit during an outdoor screening of the films. They had told filming anecdotes, in particular how the rich food of the village had prevented Mylène Demougeot (Milady) from closing her corsets.

ON THE SCREEN

In 1947, the medieval city was the setting for 'Mister Vincent' recounting the life of St-Vincent-de-Paul. Pérouges features the village of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne, yet only 40 km away!

Among the dozens of feature films shot in the streets of the historic village, let's also mention the great classic 'Angelique Marquise of the Angels'.

And the village continues to inspire filmmakers, with the 2007 TV movie 'Isabelle missing' or, 'Charlotte Corday' whose character is guillotined on the place du tilleul. THE most recent shoot to date is that of 'One day girl' in 2022. . The story of a young woman disguised as a man in the 18th century, based on real events.
