Straight towpath: no vehicle passage. Passage between Proulieu and Lagnieu roundabout in town and departmental road (about 5km)

From the pretty chapel of Marcilleux, the walk takes place in a straight line, without any difficulty, in passable undergrowth. Short passage in town and departmental about 3 km.

At the starting point, the pretty chapel of Marcilleux, all in curves, observes us from its nine centuries of history (cannot be visited). On arrival, the charming village of St-Sorlin-en-Bugey offers its stone facades along the climb to the old market square. A tip: go to the church to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view from the cemetery.

For a slightly shorter version, the departure can be from Chemin du Port in St-Vulbas. A break is recommended on the picnic tables at the level of the river stop, in the calm of the weeping willows, with a view of the waters of the Rhône.

From St-Sorlin, it is possible to continue the walk by the via Rhôna by two routes: to Sault-Brenaz and the nautical activities of the island of La Serre. Or to the Grottes de la Balme and the archaeological site of Larina to return to St-Vulbas (around 40km loop)

At the Lagnieu roundabout, two Via Rhôna routes can be combined with the towpath to extend the walk: towards Geneva (Vallée Bleue leisure center) or towards Lyon (Grottes de la Balme, Larina archaeological site) .
